Federica Brunone
MSc in Building Engineering and Architecture

Federica is a construction engineer interested in building technologies and innovation, towards the sustainable development in constructions. She is now a PhD Scholar in Building Production, at ABC Department of Politecnico di Milano, focusing on timber construction systems and processes applied to the transformation of the existing building stock. She has been a guest researcher in i.lab, the R&D department of Italcementi Group (Italy), developing new and experimental cement-based materials for her graduation thesis. Since 2015, she has taken part in several research activities at VELUXlab – Politecnico di Milano, in the field of integrated building design, focusing on comfort, environmental impact, and energy saving. Between 2017 and 2019 – beside the doctoral activities – she took part into several exhibitions and workshops, at FARM Cultural Park, Arte Sella, La Triennale di Milano, and Mori Art Museum (Tokyo) and worked on several publications, between the academic field and the technical dissemination. Since 2018, she cooperates with VELUX and Active House Alliance in the promotion of more sustainable and healthier buildings, as a member of Politecnico di Milano.
